About Townsend

Townsend is located in the northwestern corridor of Oconto County right by the border of Oconto and Forest County. As of 2010, Townsend had a population of 963.

The town was built in 1864 and was named after the man who drove the first spike into the railroad in the town. Today, Townsend has become a popular Northwoods getaway location for many vacationers. The area is surrounded by many different lakes, offering tons of spots for anglers and boaters alike to enjoy the water. The Townsend Flowage offers fishermen the chance to reel in some Panfish, Bass, and Pike, while offering long and straight corridors for boaters to get out and enjoy the water.

Within town there’s tons to do also. Sleepy Hollow Mini Golf is a great place to take the family if you’re looking to have some fun. It is a full 18 hole mini golf course that offers challenging holes with a beautiful Northwoods backdrop. The annual Corn Roast and ATV/UTV Parade in August is a great way to have some family friendly fun under the sun. The event offers free sweet corn and tons of raffle prizes, so there’s something for everyone.
